I say beware in posting personal profiles on the net. As much as I want to fully express myself in my social networking sites, I’m also worrying with the threat that could happen to anyone. Identity Theft? Whatever you call. Its just that last year(haha last month-December), I discovered that someone created a new fake friendster account. Worse is that it got my profile(schools, hobbies, who i a want to meet, etc). The profile I had before switching to what i have now on my fs. Worst! It had my pictures.
Good thing Lique(katukayo, friend, kuyapat’s hs classmate) inormed me so. She PMd me. She asked if I had two fs accounts. I said i only had one. She replied that there’s this account with my name, pictures, profile etc who added her and frequently visits her site. I was so freaked out. I was afraid. Of all people. I was considering it’s just a friendster error just like the very recent one — deleting everyone’s friendslist. But i noticed that in the who i want to meet section, it was so obvious that it was copy pasted. The original ones had links. The fake one didnt have. Also with the school, there are some discrepancies with the way of typing etc. I might consider uploading the comparisons when i got time.
I just messaged everybody in my friends list. I Also messaged the 16 people in this fake account friends list to delete this acoount in their list. Unfortunately, they are not responding. Well, most of them I dont know and i understand how hard it is to manually search your friends list esp if its 500+.
I emailed friednster and here’s the reply.
