Alright. I hope someone will benefit from this post. If you are applying for an SSS Account or an SSS Number either you are know working or is just required by your prof in subject like Bussiness Finance(yes, that’s my case), here are the steps on how to secure one.

The only requirement is(choose 1 from the list). Have it photocopied. You have to bring the original as an attachment though they will just be getting the photocopy.

• certified true copy or authenticated birth certificate from NSO
• passport
• unexpired driver’s license
• marriage contract
• *forgot the other one

In my case, we applied at SSS Manila Branch near the Manila City Hall(just beside SM Manila/near YMCA). Secure a number(that was counter 1 in Manila Branch), The officer will give you the number and E1 form(this is what our prof is asking).

Tips:

• SSS opens at 7:00 am but line starts to file up as early as 5:00 am. (in our case, we came around 3:oo pm and left the place around 5:00 pm.) There really are a lot of people so you better be early of you have other appointments for the day.
• (for students) If there are job fairs at your school and SSS has a booth, I highly suggest you take the opportunity. That is way way less hasle!
• Make sure you’ve photocopied your documents before your number is called. Make sure also you’ve imprinted your thumbmark! hehe
• Make sure you know where you are currently living Be aware of your postal code.
• Prepare who will your beneficiaries be.
